About Me

My name is Kellie Walsh. I was born in Ohio, but I enjoy exploring new places. I love Ohio because of all the beautiful parks and small businesses. Many people think Ohio is boring, but I see it as a state full of fun activities. I am studying to become a Middle Level: English and Social Studies teacher at the University of Akron.

The first thing people say when they meet me is that I am quiet and kind. Once I am comfortable around people, I become more outgoing, funny, and witty. I am a positive person, and I can find the humor in any situation. I believe that life is too short to be serious all the time.

Some of my hobbies and interests include reading, photography, going on hikes, practicing yoga, watching movies, cooking and baking, and knitting. I love anything and everything about Harry Potter, as you can see in the picture. I have always struggled with sports, however I did play volleyball for a couple of years. I enjoy trying new activities, recipes, and traveling.

In my semester abroad in Italy, I took two classes and did an education internship at Sant'Anna Institute. I took an Italian and Western Civilizations class. I taught English as a Foreign Language to students of all ages and levels. This internship gave me the chance to become a stronger and more confident teacher.

I want to be a middle school teacher because I believe that we need more good teachers for that age range. When I was in middle school, I did not have a strong connection with any of my teachers. I want to have a positive relationship with my future students. I want them to be comfortable in my classroom, and to be able to communicate with me. I intend to inspire them to be the best people they can be, and I know that they will inspire me right back. I hope to show my students that learning can be exciting.
